While you're away, your pets can come here to stay! Van Wert Veterinary Clinic is pleased to offer year round boarding for cats and dogs. It's best to call early when planning a vacation, especially around holiday times as boarding fills up quickly! We have a dedicated group of individuals that see to your pets care 7 days a week. They carefully monitor your pet's appetite and elimination habits while they board so we can address a problem if one arises. An advantage of boarding here is the availability of medical care should your pet need it.
The kennel area is fully heated and air conditioned. Dogs are generally housed in runs which have a door that leads directly to an enclosed outdoor area where they can eliminate. If you prefer to have your pets walked outside, just let us know when you drop them off. Cats are housed in individual cages of various sizes. We provide bedding for all pets unless otherwise stated by the owner. We feed Science Diet canine adult formula for the dogs and Science Diet feline maintenance formula for the cats. You are also welcome to bring your pets own food along with them, just make sure to bring enough for their entire stay!
Important Considerations When Boarding
Vaccinations- Dogs and cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies vaccinations. Dogs are also required to have had a kennel cough vaccination within the last 12 months. Puppies and kittens must have a completed vaccination series before boarding; puppy and kitten series are not typically complete until 15-16 weeks of age. If we are not your pet’s regular veterinarian, please bring documentation of vaccination with you.
Medications- There is no extra charge for giving your pet medications during their stay. We can give oral medications up to twice daily.
Special Instructions- Please write down any special instructions or concerns you have for your pet. We make every effort to honor reasonable requests.
Pick-up and drop-off times- These are during our normal business hours.
